INTRODUCING RYAN KENNY
I come from Adelaide, Australia and it is rather limiting to live here. You’ve got to make your own fun. I am eighteen years old. I started taking pictures with a film camera at the end of 2008 when I went to Sydney with two friends. I wanted to document what I knew was going to be an amazing trip, I soon fell in love with the process. I always loved to paint and draw. I also kept a journal. Then I realised that I could kill two birds with one stone by documenting with a camera. I’d love to be able to make a living out of some form of photography but if not, when I’m old I’d love to be able to look back on all my adventures. I recently went to Sydney to be involved in an exhibition called SIXTEEN with fifteen remarkable photographers. The above photo was taken of my then-girlfriend. We went for a walk into this forest near her house and I was planning to take photos of her but before we started a voice screamed at us from a distance to scare us so I took a photo on my point and shoot to see if they were near…and this photo came back when I picked up the film. A photographer whose work I love is Chad Moore. His photos are glimpses into a life of partying, road trips and everyday occurrences. It isn’t the kind of photography that I do, but I get huge enjoyment from looking at his photos.
