INTRODUCING STEPAN HANDZHA
I’m from Ternopil. It’s a small and boring town in Ukraine. I’m 25. I started to take pictures when my friend gave me a Smena 8m camera. I was quite surprised with that camera. It costs less then film but can take not bad pictures. It was in 2005 I think. At the beginning photography was like a diary for me. But now I want to dig deeper. A year ago I started to take pictures with a medium format cameras to capture more landscapes and still life. Hope to do more of this in the future. Since I started to take pictures I forced myself to go outside even if I want to stay at home. I think it’s good because I’m kinda lazy guy. I like my Zorki 1c. It’s a pleasure to keep it in hands, but not for taking pictures. This is a picture of a place that I found during my usual bike ride. I often go for picture hunting with my bike. That day I somehow took a wrong turn, because of the bad weather. The wind was so strong that I couldn’t keep riding. So I climbed up the chute to take a picture of the bridge. The wind on the top was worse, I could hardly keep the camera in my hands. Alec Soth, Arnel Henry, Gregory Halpern are great!
