INTRODUCING PEDRO RAMOS
I’m from Madeira Island. Living there is amazing but I recently moved to Sydney. I’m 27. I started taking pictures with a 110 film camera that my best friend gave me for my birthday when I was very young. I don’t really remember seeing any photos taken with it though… I wanted to document things and moments that were interesting and relevant to me. It’s the best way I found of celebrating life and sharing it with others so far. I’m working on a book project and some other things at the moment. That’s my goal right now. Through photography I met interesting like-minded people and found new career opportunities. Mamiya 7II is my fetisch camera. This photograph was taken on a recent summer night. I was at a beachside party with some friends including Max (pictured). He’s always amped to go for a night swim. Sometimes I’m too lazy to go for it but whenever I do I never regret it afterwards. It’s one of my favourite things to do around here. I love how Wolfgang Tillmans arranges his work regardless of subject matter and how it all seems to make perfect sense. He’ll shoot portraits, landscapes, still life, abstract images and will create the most beautiful installations with different sized prints. Some small, some huge, some framed, some just taped to the wall and some of it shown on tables. I think he crosses over from plain photographer to multimedia artist and does it in an amazing and compelling way.
