INTRODUCING MICHELLE KATHLEEN ANDERSON
I live in Portland, Oregon. It feels like.. home… It’s full of greenery and young, creative people. I get sick of it on & off but it can be a really lovely town. I’m 23. I have taken pictures on and off since I was in junior high, but I started
doing it more and becoming really interested in it about two years ago. I
got my dad’s camera back after my younger brother borrowed it for his high school photography class—I wanted to bring it on a trip to Europe, since I didn’t have anything else. I was sure the photos from the trip wouldn’t turn out since I hadn’t used the camera in awhile, but I was wrong… So with a little encouragement from my surrounding artistic friends, I started snapping away… Trying to be artsy, I mean when I was 14, this is what made me start. Right now, I’m mostly just trying to make interesting images. Eventually, I would love to get people thinking about more than just composition or my personal life, but that’s in the works.. My brain has changed since I started and what I THINK is going to happen is that I will move to Chicago and go back to art school to finish my BFA… I would have never considered that a few years ago. Right now, I’m mostly shooting with my t4. We’re having an affaire. We haven’t been together for long but it’s been pretty hot so far. This is a photo I took this summer of a few new friends of mine, out on an island near here. We were lying right in between the regular part of the
beach and the nude beach.. Certainly Oregon’s only nude beach. The two people closest to the camera were a new couple, and the girl in the back was studying and reading interesting excerpts out loud from a textbook about the female body. A photogrpher that I have discovered via the internet is Steven Beckly. I love how personal his photographs are. Those of (him and) his boyfriend seem so sincere and the emotions so relateable. They are more than just images.
